New Volkswagen Super Bowl Ad Inspires Dogs to Shed Some Weight

After a quite literal "commercial success" at last year's Super Bowl, all eyes were on Volkswagen at 2012's Big Game. Of course, everyone knows that the true stars of the Super Bowl usually are the big ads, but "The Force" is a commercial that truly deserves a solid follow up. What's more, Volkswagen knew it too.

That's why the company released "The Bark Side," a teaser for their new ad that features a group of dogs barking out Darth Vader's Imperial March. The hint? The new commercial would feature both dogs and Star Wars. If you were a bit confused by this, don't worry... We here at Lindsay Volkswagen of Dulles were too... As were most people.

Confusion in full swing, Volkswagen finally unveiled the new ad just days before the Super Bowl, and if you ask us it definitely lived up to the hype. Titled "The Dog Strikes Back," the new ad features the struggle of an overweight dog, who can't even fit through his doggy door, attempting to shed his pounds in order to chase a red Volkswagen Beetle that taunts him so.

Wait what does this have to do with Star Wars, you ask? Not much at first. But once the dog is in full chase of his prized Volkswagen, the ad pans out to reveal several familiar aliens watching the ad in the Mos Eisely Cantina from the Star Wars universe. After bickering about whether the "Vader kid" from last year's ad or the dog from this year's one is funnier, the real Darth shows up to persuade the argument by using the Force.

Overall, the ad is a whole lot of fun, and just one more reason why we here at 22455 Cedar Green Road Sterling, VA 20166 love the vehicles in the new Volkswagen lineup.
