All-wheel drive wagon with manual transmission
The car industry is going through rapid changes. With the introduction of a number of new advanced safety features across the Volkswagen lineup, the I.D. concept, all-new 2018 Atlas, and the dawn of self-driving vehicles, is there anything left for the pure driving enthusiast? VW now features two all-wheel drive wagons with a manual transmission!
The all-new 2017 Golf Alltrack comes standard with all-wheel drive capability that can be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. In 2018, the the Golf SportWagen adds all-wheel drive versatility that can also be paired with a manual transmission.
So what’s the difference? Why a manual? There’s still a pretty sizable contingent of drivers who prefer to drive a stick shift. The only real benefit of driving a stick shift is that it’s more fun! If you’ve never actually driven a manual transmission, it’s not difficult to pick up. In the age of distracted driving, it forces you to pay more attention to the road and you’ll be more honed in as to how your car is performing.
The Audi A4 is the only luxury six-speed manual transmission left with all-wheel drive. The premium, yet affordable Golf Alltrack is off-road ready, with standard Off-Road model and Hill Descent control. While the 2017 Golf SportWagen doesn’t feature Off-Road mode, you can add all-wheel drive capability to the mix.
Lindsay Volkswagen has a large inventory of Volkswagen cars still available with a manual transmission.
